Course Description

A major expense for cities is damage to sidewalks, curbs and gutters by tree roots. There are strategies to reduce the conflicts and still enjoy our urban trees.  Proper planning, design, management, and mitigation can retain larger valuable trees for a community and reduce expenses and costly infrastructure repairs.

Yes, cities can have functional urban forests where trees and sidewalks and other hardscapes coexist in harmony.

This continuing education seminar is intended for professionals who deal with conflicts between tree roots and infrastructure.  Topics covered will be useful to: arborists; urban foresters; arboricultural consultants; landscape architects and planners; landscape, concrete and building contractors; engineers; city managers; public works staff; and public utility staff.

Presented By:

  • principles and methods to reduce damage and costs.
  • options to repair or minimize tree/sidewalk issues.
